A Kent Island Boat Ride

As our feet step from land to sea...from dirt to platform...the sound of twin engines start with a great roar,
The stage is set...the boat gets moving...it's off to see the cattails waving in the winds...the skate gliding among the waves on the water,
It's like white caps have found their soulmate with the salty underbelly of the sea floor,
It doesn't matter...we must float amongst the caps...letting the rockfish and other fish of the waters comply with our boats underside...we would never want any unwanted hurt or damage to come of them.

So it is that we float...aimlessly now as the captain shuts off the key...engine rumbling to a halt...and the sporting begins,
The lines are drawn...it's time to fish for our dinner tonight...but make sure to see the sun rising and setting as we do so,
It's an all day affair...lines pulled...lines thrown...fish caught...fish escape...skate fight and fight...never letting us catch one,
I guess no fake scallops from skate tonight...but the rockfish will do...three or four we muster each...a true waterman's feast.

It's is that we've caught our share...it's time to pull the lines and go looking for the buoys floating just underneath the waters surface...our eyes catching sight of one here or there,
Here we come...those buoys don't stand a chance as the captain starts the engine once again...cheers for the chance to eat us some crabs,
The boat is slowly getting on it's way...everyone on the boat has their hands outstretched against the waters current, ship cutting the waves like a sharks fin through heavy ocean waters,
We come across the first buoy...captain cutting the ship's speed in half as we pull the buoy up...up...up...seven crabs in the crab pot.

We start to get happy...feeling lucky even...checking one after the other...three...nine...four...better still...more crabs,
We pull one from the pot...a big one from the captains standards...a jumbo...oww it pinched me...I didn't think it would hurt,
All in all we collect eighty two of them...enough for a feast I should say,
Lucky us we will eat good tonight...but the captain wishes to say a prayer first...one wishing for those less fortunate to get a sea breeze of luck in their direction...may prosperity find the world.

That is one of the prettiest places in the world. Your photos are amazing.. I have been there before.. and that bridge is a terror to drive over.. worse than the tunnels that go underground. Shivers.. but I have gotten some of the best seafood there that I have ever had in my life. So well done!

That bridge is a little much for some. But the sights are truly something. Thank you.
