Diabetes Nation
So they say we all have diabetes...sugar attacks...not enough sugar...hindering glucose levels,
The probability is such that maybe the levels are too high...new dimensional gateways they say are unforgiving,
Coffee coffee...donuts...candy bars...caramelize my steak for goodness sake...the profanities...man my eyesight is acting up,
Acting without regard our civilizations are...with virtue and balance Socrates and Plato told them.
When did all this start...maybe from the misdiagnosis of COPD...Arthritis...Kidney disease...just say it doctor,
Let the world know we have a pandemic...throw the sugar packets in the air and let's have a slow moving parade,
The marching band has begun their movements through the streets...banging the drums against various parts of diabetics bodies,
So much pain...so little time for repair...one day you feel great...another it is oh so painful.
It is being called around the world...sugar companies of the 1700's making the runs of sugar grazing...feeding the colonists and mainland Europe's frenzy,
Back and forth...almost robotic in nature as if the sugar contemplated their next move...addiction at an utmost height,
So good they exclaim...it tastes so refined and wonderful that it can't be bad for you,
Oh how the sugar lies...that secret killer that hides among the bushes of the molecules just waiting for that perfect strike at the kidneys...maybe the heart.
The banners have all been risen...the flags are flying high...medical emergencies their explaining...but the people just are not listening,
Sirens ringing loudly that the epidemic is well underway...everyone quick hurry and look for sugar substitutes but don't mind that it might give your cancer,
The weapon has already been put in civilization's hands...we hold the sugary packet in our possession every morning...every night,
What will you do for just one more taste of sweetness...what will it do in return for you...oh Diabetes nation.
